The deal is this, you bring a pail/tub/bag/container of 50 cookies you have baked. I give you a fortune cookie containing 6 randomly chosen numbers from 1-49.

You do only the questions the cookie tells you AND the essay question.

If you don't bring 50 cookies, no fortune cookie; you write the entire lot of 49 questions AND the essay.
