Topic: ATTN: Lightbox

The lightbox plugin is having some trouble. Mr. Sader is going to try and update the plugin so that it works. If it is not working for you then don't worry, it should, hopefully, soon. If it does work for you, please leave a reply saying what you did.

Re: ATTN: Lightbox

Here's what I am able to reproduce. If a link is to a jpg - without the img tags - the lightbox of any other properly embedded images wrapped in links fail.

For example, code like this will execute a lightbox effect:

<a href="http://iblog.stjschool.org/demo/files/2007/04/salvador-dali-the-persistence-of-memory-15500.jpg"><img class="alignright" src="http://iblog.stjschool.org/demo/files/2007/04/salvador-dali-the-persistence-of-memory-15500.thumbnail.jpg" alt="" width="128" height="103" /></a>

but code like this anywhere else in the post will mess up the lightbox:

<a href="http://iblog.stjschool.org/demo/files/2007/04/salvador-dali-the-persistence-of-memory-15500.jpg">words</a>

Notice the href ends in .jpg, but no image will be displayed.

In summary, avoid hyperlinks to images that are not embedded. "Link" to a page, but use "img" to embed images.

What I think is happening is that the lightbox-2 plugin uses java to search the post for images, it finds some, but then tries to use the tags it expects to find with each image(title, alt, height, width, src, etc), but doesn't find tags for the remaining images and the script fails.

Re: ATTN: Lightbox

I have a link and it ends in .jpg. But, I was wondering if that is nescessary for it to work because I am sure some of our class will not get one. I had to edit a bunch of stuff to get an image ending in .jpg and our class probably doesn't want to. SO....is it nescessary??

Mr.Sader. I copied your code above and pasted it in my post. When I went to my page, it worked for lightbox. So then i copied the code on to word and replaced your image URL ending in .jpg with mine and copied it and pasted it in my blog, but then it shows up with a white box with a little red X in it. What might I be doing wrong. I'm guessing its probably some little stupid thing =]

Remove any link ending in .jpg that is only wrapped around words. Images need to link to images, words should link to pages.

Unless you show me the code(click the bbcode to see how) how would I guess?

This is the code I used Word to edit to my link that did not end sucessfully.

Lightboxes will not work in your posts until you remove all other links to images(there are a few) not in <img> tags.

For example, "That means someone is most likely handicapped by the time you have read up to this point." The link you have on"handicapped" is to an image but it is not in <img> tags. That's the problem.

Lightbox chokes on links to images that are not in <img> tags.

Would you like us to guess? Please be more descriptive. What is happening? What have you tried? What is or what is it not doing?
