Re: What's in a post?

Poor posts retell the story, have poor words: "a lot," "thing," "you" - or worse -  "u."

Re: What's in a post?

Good posts show understanding of a text, link to decent materials on the net but may have minimum number of paragraphs, comments, etc.

Re: What's in a post?

Better posts relate to genuine hardships, emotion, personality. Better posts embed relevant media(images, sounds, videos) smartly. We learn something about the bloggers experiences, their world view.

Re: What's in a post?

Best posts grab a reader's attention and don't let go. Voice is fluent and uniquely personal. Connects to self, others, other texts, the world, history, philosophy. The post is one of a kind. Ideas flow, defending a central focus. Focuses on rare events, rare emotions, rare conflict, unique detail. Doesn't generalize. More is learned about the blogger, and the blogger's world view, but we learn something about ourselves as readers when we read a great post, too. Embedded media is "home made."
