Dear whoever,

I am wondering on what a metaphor is before I start writing about a metaphor, and while writing a metaphor what am I supposed to right about?

Re: Metaphor

Well Big Mac, a metaphor is a comparison from one unlike thing to another without using the words like, or as.
example - the car is a lemon.

Re: Metaphor

Another easy way to write a metaphor is using taste or smell.

Re: Metaphor

you could say how you feel.
For example i'm as hungry as a horse.

Re: Metaphor

About that last post I was being a really big dummy and didn't use my reasoning.
What should really go there is I am a horse.

I am a horse for leading you down the wrong path in my first reply.

Re: Metaphor

The easiest way to write a metaphor is to choose and object and compare it to something totally different. What does it remind you of? For example:
The shore was a tough debate, between sand and cool blue water.

Re: Metaphor

So what is the difference between a metaphor and a simile?

Re: Metaphor

Both a metaphor and simile compare two objects. However, a simile use the words like or as. Eg. The soldier was as brave as a lion.
A metaphor does not use like or as. Eg. the car is a lemon.
