Topic: Book Talk Ready Player One

The book starts with an announcement on the tv a man named James Halliday had died during the night in the book James Halliday is the person responsible for creating a thing called the oasis. The oasis is an MMO (massively multiplayer online) game in VR that has taken over peoples lives and now everyone lives in it. Due to its success, it has made him one of the wealthiest people on earth.

Re: Book Talk Ready Player One

james Halliday created a contest for the first person to find an in-game easter egg in the oasis got Halliday fortune two hundred and forty billion dollars and this takes place in America so with today's exchange rate that would be just over 300 billion Canadian. Halliday created a video explaining the challenge and giving clues the video shows popular from the 80 because that's when Halliday grew up.

Re: Book Talk Ready Player One

This book takes place in 2045 four years after the announcement of Halliday's death. The easter egg has still not been found and follows an 18-year-old boy named Wade Watts. Wade is one of the people who is dedicated to finding the Easter egg these people slowly developed the name gunters almost everyone in the oasis called themselves gunters but very few know very much about the 80.

Re: Book Talk Ready Player One

In the book, Wade says he has a bulky laptop that is almost 10 years old that he watches 80 shows on but if this book takes place in 2045 how bulky can a laptop from 2035 be laptops now are like less than an inch thick and in 10 years you would think that they would be like paper or holograms.

Re: Book Talk Ready Player One

Wade was given access to the oasis at a young age letting him access every book, movie, tv show, video game, and every piece of art ever created. before getting access instead of telling him the truth about the terrible world he was born in his parents chose to tell him the opposite so he found this out when he browsed the oasis and had some serious trust issues.

Re: Book Talk Ready Player One

Wade has had the oasis for his whole life he used to play games with his mom and his mom had to force him to log off every night because the real world sucked. But his mom was born into a great world and had to watch it slowly decay the only thing that seemed to make her happy where drugs which also ended up killing her.

Re: Book Talk Ready Player One

After Wade's mom died he moved in with his ant his ant hardly took care of him she took the food the government gave him so he had to find his own food, he would fix broken computers repair them than sell them for food this gave him more food than most people in his neighborhood.

Re: Book Talk Ready Player One

In the book, wade was watching tv on his laptop late at night his aunt walked in and saw the laptop she made wade give it to her to sell so she could pay for rent. The next morning he decided to go to school early he got ready and went outside wade lived in these towers of RVs called the stacks.

Re: Book Talk Ready Player One

Wade lived in the top of a stack that was one or two RVs taller than most the stacks. The top of the stacks or the roofs were covered with solar panels to give the rest of the stacks power. Stacks were held together by modular reinforced scaffolding and built by big cranes that slowly backed away from the center and built more expanding the town.

Re: Book Talk Ready Player One

In the morning Wade would go to school but unlike school that people like me or you are used to it was in the oasis. Wade would climb down the stacks and go to his secret hideout this is where he hid his headset he hid it there because if he had it at home he knew his aunt would try to sell it. a while ago people just abandoned their vehicles because gas became too expensive to afford. they were pushed into piles. This is where wade made his hideout wade managed to squeezed between an opening and went into a car that was undamaged.
