Topic: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

The Eleventh Plagues setting is where the world has collapsed because of war and many people did not live. There are two main characters in the book a 15-year-old boy named Stephen and his dad. They are a couple of people that were able to survive. They go back and forth the U.S trying to find stuff they can trade for. They try to avoid any people that may hurt them in any way. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure, suspenseful, and dystonia books.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

After Stephen and his dad get away from the slavers in the middle of the night they end up almost running into a gorge but they stop right before they fall in.  Stephens dad looks at him and says he was sorry. Right after he's done talking the ground under them falls and they fall into the gorge. Once in the bottom Stephen landed on the side of a river and his dad fell into the river. His dad go hurt on the way down and is unconscious.  Stephen was not able to see much but he seen a big black blog rushing down the river. Stephen had to move fast. He undressed and he jumps in.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

Stephen flights to grab his dad but has a hard time. He was able to grab him once but the current was strong so he lost his grip and had to get him again. After Stephen is able to get his dad he fights to get to sour. Hes gets to the sour and finds a small cave in the gorge wall. He pushes his dad in and crawls in beside him. Stephen see that his dad is in very bad shape. Stephen thought he should go try and find his bag but he did not want to leave his dad in the bad weather alone just in case he woke up.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

After Stephen wakes up the next morning his dad was still not awake. The rain had stopped and he thought that he should go find his stuff. He walks upstream and finds were he had left his stuff the past day.he puts his clouthes back on and then climbs up the gorge wall. He tried to find out what way they came from so he could find their wagon and donkey. He has a hard time but he finds the plain and the slavers were gone and so was the donkey. The wagon was still it was a pisces. All that was left was a bunch of wood and bunch of stuff they were going to trade. He found his dad's bag in mud. The bag was waterproof. He heads back to the gorge and uses what they have to help his dad.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

Stephen makes a fire when he gets back to the bottom of the gorge and has all there stuff back to camp. After the fire is going he strips down and hangs his clothes. Throughout the day he tandes to the fire and his dad. When it starts to get darker out he climbs back into the small cave. When he cant sleep he just stares at the top of the cave then he hears people coming from downstream and with the fire him and his dad are easy to be seen. Stephen grabs the hunting rifle and runs a bit out stream but not to far. He sees three people coming. He thought it might be the slavers. The people see the fire and raise their guns. One in a tall skinny man and he starts to go through Stephens bags. Then the man seen Stephens dad in the cave. He reaches out. Stephen raised his gun and took a shout and the man fell to the ground. Then another younger man came running to help his friend. Stephen takes a couple more shots then everything goes black.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

When he wakes up in the morning he see the men standing around him. His hands and feet are tied up. The men are talking about if they were spies. When they notice that Stephen is awake one man kneels down and says “ we mean no harm.”that men's name was Marcus. The other two men were Jackson and Sam. After Marcus asks a couple questions about who him and his dad were.  Marcus offers to take Stephen and his dad back to their town because they have a good doctor. Stephen says that they can take care of themselves. Marcus hands Stephen a box with seven rounds in it then Marcus, Sam, and Jackson leaves down the gorge. Stephen thinks for a quick second. Then he calls out and goes with the men.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

After they all are out of the gorge they head west all day. Stephen has to wear a blindfold os then he did not know the path that they were taking. After it stated to get darker he was able to take it off. Stephen and his dad was on the back of a wagon. Jackson was following the wagon as the back gard. Marcus was in front leading the way and Sam was on the wagon. Stephen put his dad’s head on his lap. He dropped little bit of water on his dad's lips to keep them moist. After they got closer to the town Stephen had to put the blindfold back on.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

After they got to the town gates Stephen was able to take off the blindfold. Jackson opened the gates and Sam took the wagon in. After Jackson closes the gates they continue to move  forward to the town. The town was in the bottom of a valley surrounded by forest. The town was called farmers landing.  They stole into the town and when they went past some people that lived there they waved to welcome them back not knowing that Stephen was in the wagon.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

They strolled to a white house and Sam pulled the wagon off to the side of the road. Marcus went inside to meet his wife who is also the doctor. Sam helped Stephen get his dad inside. When they got inside they were told to put Stephens dad on a cot. They lay him down and Violet comes rushing over to aid. She asks Stephen what happened and he told her that his dad fell about 20 feet. Stephen also said that he fell into water and hid his head. Violet gets to work trying to do what she can. Out the widow Stephen see people setting up a big fire and a fold out table. Marcus said that it was thanksgiving or at least they thought it was. After a while of watching Violet work Stephen fell asleep he could not fight to stay awake. While Stephen was sleeping he praying that his dad would be OK.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

After  Stephen wakes up he sees that his dad is still out. Marcus is standing in a door with a bowl in his hands.  Stephen only pays attention to his dad. Marcus asks how's he's doing and what he wanted to do for the day. Stephen said he wants to help with something. Violet said he should get some rest but Stephen wanted to help. So Stephen and Marcus went to the fields where farmers were trying to clear out the field before winter hit. Marcus explained that they had to clear out the land and that it took a full year. He also said that it was Sam's people that told them what to do.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

After Sam and Marcus told Stephen what to do they all got to work. They worked till noon and then everyone was leaving the field to go eat but Stephen said he would keep working but after everyone was out of sight he left the field and walked around to try and find stuff that him and his dad could trade when they left. He was going to go and find stuff to take and lie to the people that helped him and his dad

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

later that day when it was getting dark outside Stephen was getting his bed ready beside his dad. When Marcus and his wife was not around he looked around the house looking for stuff to take. He thought to himself that they had all this medicion and pretty much just giving it away. Once Marcus and everyone else was asleep Stephen took some of the medicion and ran into the woods and buried it so then no one would know that he took it. After he was done filling in the hole he started to run back to the house but he could not see very well because he was crying.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

As he ran back to the house he thought that he was to thief and that he should not steal stuff but yet it would make their life better because they could trade that stuff to get stuff  they could use to make it easier to survive in the world they in now. After he got back to the house he laid down and went to sleep. In the morning after he had eaten Marus suggested he should go to school.  Violet said he should get some rest but  Stephen wanted to go. Marcus's son told him to go up to his room and grab some pencils and a notebook. After Stephen grabbed what he needed he was about to go down stairs but then he seen a room that had pencil subs and crumpled paper all over the floor. He knew that it was Jenny's room But Jenny waste in the room.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

Stephen looked around and when he was about to leave he seen holes in the wall from someone punching the wall. He stared at them for a minute and then he put his had in them and his hand fit perfectly. Violet called from down stairs and asked if he needed any help. Stephen ran down stairs and said he was ready. Violet was holding two paper bags and gave one to Stephen and Jackson. They left the house and went to the school. As the stampede of kids was rushing through the school some girls seen Stephen and laughed because of the jacket he was wearing. It was torn up a bit. When Stephen seen the girls looking and laughing at him he pulled the jacket close to make it seem like he was cold.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

When they got into the classroom Jackson told Stephen to sit just in front of him.  After a little while when most of the kids were sitting a couple other kids got up and started to bug Stephen. Jackson and his friends seen what was happing and got up and defended Stephen even though they didn't know Stephen that well.  Stephen didn't know what to do. He just stayed quiet. After the teacher walked he got everyone to take their seats so then they could start class.  He called names to see who was in class and who wasn't.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

In the middle of the names being called the door at the back of the room bangs open and Jenny walks in. The teacher greats her.  After Jenny takes her seat the class begins. They didn't realize how fast the day was going by. The teacher said that it was time for lunch and all the kids rushed out onto the old playground. after they were all done eating one of the kids called out and he had a sheet of paper with names on it. it was the teams for the baseball game after school.

Re: The Eleventh Plague by Jeff Hirsch

Stephen saw Jenny on the hill staring down at her drawing book.  In the classroom, before she passed a note to Stephen that said ¨I know what you did in the woods Friday night.¨ When he read the note he kinda got a little scared because he thought Jenny might tell someone and get him kicked out. He wanted to talk to Jenny and explain what he was doing. He when up to the hill and tried to talk to her but she kept cutting him off. After a little, while being on the hill with Jenny the same kids that were bugging him in the classroom were coming up the other side of the hill. Stephen wanted to leave but Jenny wanted to fight. It started with the kids saying that they both didn't belong in the town. The leader of the group was named Will. He didn't like Stephen or Jenny. He wanted them out if the town. He wanted Stephen gone because he thought that he was a spy for a different town wanting to destroy them.
