Topic: Craig and Fred by Craig Grossi
Craig was an intelligence collector for the United States Marine Corps, so he was to learn as much as he could from the villages about the Taliban, their fundamentalist that ws waging war in Afghanistan. If they ever captured a Taliban fighter, he was the only pone in their unit that they would question. His expertise was in communication, and the other guys that he's with were in combat. Those guys were like professional athletes, and smart too. To gain their trust, he needed to prove that he was able to keep up on long nighttime patrols and in gunfights. Craig also needed to show that he brought something to the battlefield that they couldn't provide themselves. They just recently landed on their helicopter in Sangin, Afghanistan. Sangin is the kind of place where you turn a corner there are two Taliban guys standing there. Once's got an RPG and the others got a machine gun, they are just waiting to light you up. Sangin had that kind of reputation. The Taliban were bolder because it was an important location for poppy farming, and the opium trade helped fund them. The Taliban controlled the families in the villages, who had no other choice but to go along with what they were told. The Taliban takes what they wanted, shutting down the local economy.
